"Apprenticeship is the Future” ...

Our industry is in a crisis. The ebbing of one generation is no longer being met by the flow of another into a workforce continuum to propel our industry forward. To erase that ever widening expanse between generations, New Concept Technology’s Apprenticeship Program is a foot bridge to the future, individually, and for a nation . . .

"Apprenticeship Program is a Success" ...

“New Concept’s Tool & Die Apprenticeship Program is a success,” states U. S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) to reporters during a tour of New Concept Technology, as he stops to pose with some of the apprentices.  The No. 1 issue during Toomey’s tour was job retention and recruitment.

  The Future Doesn’t Just Happen—It’s Planned for . . .

Explaining New Concept’s donation of a 5,000 sq. ft. training center to be used by the Manufacturers’ Association of South Central Pennsylvania (MASCPA), Operations Manager Don Hubbard says, “It’s important that companies help build the industry’s workforce.

It’s not just generosity . . . as manufacturing started to come back– there wasn’t enough skilled labor to go along with the increases. A classroom and a hands-on environment is needed to properly train workers.”

New Concept Technology invests approximately $250,000 per apprentice over a five-year-period in wages, benefits, books and classroom training.

How Apprenticeship Works . . .

Tool and Die Apprentices engage in 10,000 hours of on-the-job training spread over a five-year-program, taking evening classes eight months out of the year.

Machinist Apprentices have a four-year-hands-on State Approved 8,000 hour program.

Employed full-time with a competitive pay scale , during the course of each program, apprentices receive periodic evaluations and structured increases, based on performance.

Tool and Die Apprentices receive a State Journeyman Tool and Die Maker Certification at the conclusion of their apprenticeship training.

Machinist Apprentices receive a State Journeyman Machinist Certification.
